We had our Thanksgiving dinner Saturday to accomodate out of town family members. The Christmas Tree is already up...I have NEVER had my tree up before Thanksgiving and I think I will try to do this from now on bcause I have really enjoyed it.
I think the hardest part of these big dinners is dragging out dishes and silverware that you don't use every day and having to wash some of it by hand and then put it all up....the cooking is the easy part. But, I have a husband who is a really good cook and is a big help. He smokes the turkey, does the baking and makes the corn pudding. I make the dressing, the sweet potato casserole and the asparagus and the giblet gravy.
I hope everyone out there had a great day....we certainly did.
Here is my husband the Chef with his great grand-son, Cameron
Here is the star, a beautiful smoked turkey that was tender and juicy. That board the turkey is resting on belonged to my father. He use to stand at the head of the table and carve the turkey...so that board has been around a very long time.
Got all the ingredients together to make a cheese sauce for the asparagus and in that blue glass is a little wine to make the cooking easier for the cook.
Why is everyone looking as if something just happened?? Cameron just threw a ball for Barney, our dog, and it hit the Christmas tree and broke an ornament.

I made this Teddy Bear years ago and it is now going home with Cameron.
