Happy New Year

 Wishing everyone a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

Since all of our family could not get together for Christmas until New Year's day,my husband and I traveled to New Orleans on Christmas Day and stayed 4 days eating fabulous food,shopping and watching the Saints game on Sunday in our room.  Here is a view from our hotel room over looking the Mississippi River.

 

Here is the Christmas Tree with gifts still waiting to be opened.  On the First day of 2010 we will celebrate Christmas, New Years and our daughter Linda's birthday.

 
The table is set and waiting for us to gather for good food and a glass of champagne.

The Oldest Angel

The Oldest Angel was inspired by James Christensen's painting. He is sculpted entirely from paper clay and painted with acrylics, antiqued and sealed.  He carries an antique glass pick and a bottle brush tree and stands on a handmade mosaic base.  He will also make his appearance tomorrow on Spooky Time Jingles.

Snow Angel

My new piece...the Snow Angel.  She is sculpted from paper clay with the exception of her hands which are sculpted from puppen fimo.  I just cannot seem to be able to sculpt these small hands from paper clay.   I painted her with many washes of blue, cream,white and gold and then gave her an antique coat and sealed for longevity.  She stands on a handmade mosaic base of sea glass and iridescent glass baubles.... On the 13th, she will appear on Spooky Time Jingles along with another angel.

 

 

2009 Christmas Decorations

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!Here in Mississippi we actually had a light snow the other night which lasted for about a day...very unusual for us. I took lots of pictures which I will upload later. 

This year I put our Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving and finished decorating yesterday.  I must admit, I did not put up as many decorations as I usually do...I think I am beginning to understand why in her later years my mother had one small tree that she kept decorated. When Christmas was over, she would put a plastic bag over it and put it in the attic. Now this was a woman who always went all out for Christmas, so  I guess this is what happens when the bones start creaking
